Rosemary’s Double Hip Replacement Journey
“Amazing. I wish I hadn’t left it so late.”
(0:24) So Rosemary, you’ve had both your hips done, and how do you feel the experience has been? (0:29) Amazing, and I just wish I hadn’t left it so late before I presented with the first side. (0:35) I guess I was an ostrich with my head in the sand really. (0:38) Think we all are, yeah.
(0:39) After the first operation, it was amazing. You leave the theatre and you’ve lost that arthritic pain. (0:47) Yeah. (0:47) But I still obviously had discomfort in the other hip, whereas when you have the second one done, you’ve lost all the arthritic pain. (0:55) Did you have to take much painkillers after? (0:58) This time, the second time, no. In fact, even within a day or two, I wasn’t taking as many painkillers as I did the first time.
(1:06) And the experience was good in the hospital? (1:08) Absolutely, absolutely, first class. (1:10) And what kind of stuff can you do now, now that you’re six weeks out? (1:14) I’ve got my dog back. He’s only a tiny little thing, but we have very small walks. (1:20) I don’t use any crutches at all indoors or anything. (1:24) It’s like coming up here today, you know, it’s the first time I’ve been on public transport today. (1:29)
So you came up by yourself? (1:30) I did. (1:31) Not quite six weeks, that’s good. (1:33) Yeah, and it’s all the stairs and the steps, and there’s quite long distances to travel. (1:40) It’s still a big thing, having a hip replacement, even if it’s done in this way, it takes some time.
(1:44) So you’d recommend it though? (1:46) Absolutely, yes. Well, I’d recommend Kristian
Kley for sure. (1:50) Absolutely. Okay, brilliant.
