Miss Cooney’s Double Hip Replacement Journey
“Amazing. Virtually no pain. It’s wonderful! 20 out of 10 honestly.”
(0:24) So, Miss Cooney, you’ve had both of your hips replaced, how’s the experience been so far? (0:30) Well, absolutely amazing, I have to say. Slight discomfort yesterday, today I don’t feel anything (0:37) except a bit stiff. I said yesterday, didn’t I, that I just was so, first of all amazed, (0:42) but secondly so grateful that it sort of came up to expectations.
(0:47) How long have you been struggling with your hips for? (0:50) Oh, since 2019 and then the last two years I’ve been unable to get into a car or move around independently. (0:59) You haven’t even been able to get in your bed, have you? (1:00) No, I haven’t been in bed for two years now. This month is the anniversary, if you like, (1:04) Christmas time I was quite tired and I wanted to go to bed and I just couldn’t raise my legs to get into bed.
(1:10) And what about when you woke up, how much pain were you in? (1:14) Virtually no pain, it was only when I had to move my legs to get changed, that there was any discomfort. (1:21) And have you tried to get up yet? (1:22) Yes, I was out yesterday walking in the afternoon on a zimmer frame. (1:25) Wow, brilliant. (1:27) I think I’m going to get a star this week.
(1:29) Absolutely. So overall, happy? (1:32) Oh, a 20 out of 10, honestly. I mean, I urge anybody to go and have it done. (1:38) It is just amazing, this procedure (1:39) Honestly, it is. And I think I was warned off a little bit about the video because it looks so fit, (1:46) especially with the thin men jumping up and down. It’s wonderful. Thank you. (1:51) Thanks for having me.
