Lana’s Hip Replacement Story
(0:05) Lana how do you feel? It feels great, I’m feeling great. Any pain? I feel like a little scratch on the left side, that’s it. (0:17) So you feel like a little scratch? Yes. That’s all you feel? That’s it. No pain.
And there’s anaesthetist’s daughter. What pain relief has she had so far? Paracetamol. (0:27) So are you pleased, the surgeon, are you pleased? Yes. Are you happy? Yes. Thank you so much. You’re welcome. Thank you.
(0:34) How much pain have you been in since the surgery? I don’t have any pain. No pain? No pain. None whatsoever? No, no.
(0:43) Like a little scratch only here on the left side. I had this hip replacement, it’s just a little scratch. (0:51) So nothing at all? No.
So you’re sleeping okay? Yes, I’m sleeping very well, thank you. And what was it like before the surgery? (1:00) I had so many problems, just walking, just walking, back pain, I was limping, I just was going, in a month I went down so rapidly. (1:13)
You were stooping forward, you looked shorter. Yes, yes I did. Because obviously when you straighten up it makes the difference. Yes, yes I did. It was really, really difficult, just walking. (1:24) And what was the experience like at the Cromwell? Brilliant. So kind, so nice.
So I stayed only a day, I was admitted in the morning, I left in the evening. (1:36) And we took you home in the car, what was the journey like home in the car? It was good. I didn’t feel one minute that I had an operation, I just didn’t feel anything, any pain, anything, nothing was different.
(1:53) And what about, so you didn’t really spend much time at the Cromwell? No. So it’s been so far so good, good experience? It was a great experience, thank you so much, thank you so much.
(2:05) So, Lana, you’re now six days after your hip replacement, how are you doing, how much pain are you in? No, I don’t have any pain.
No pain. I’m doing really well, thank you. Sleeping okay? Sleeping okay, doing little exercises, walking around your house. (2:21) And what about getting out of the shower, any problems? No problem, no problem with the shower, I have a shower regularly, no problem really. And when did you start doing that, what stage were you able to get in the shower, was that the second day? Second day, second day.
(2:36) And all the original pain, the pain that you had in your back? There is no pain in the back, but I had some rest, so no pain in the back. But originally it wasn’t so much the hip, it was more your back, wasn’t it? It was back, my back, and it was a hip pain. The hip as well, so they’ve both gone now? They’re both gone, yeah. (2:57) So when are you going to start doing your dancing lessons again? Dancing lessons, I think in September. Okay, so a few months, get yourself strong first. Yes, yes.
