Surgeon Testimonial from Dr Hamid Razak
My fellowship with Prof Adrian Wilson at the London Knee Osteotomy Centre was a transformative experience that has profoundly shaped my career in knee preservation surgery. The exposure to a high volume of complex knee procedures, including osteotomies, multi-ligament reconstructions, and arthroplasty, provided unparalleled surgical experience. However, what truly set this fellowship apart were the robust discussions in clinic and post-operatively. Each case was an opportunity to rethink, refine, and challenge existing approaches, sharpening my clinical reasoning and decision-making.
A standout feature was the chance to interact with esteemed regional surgeons such as Kristian Kley, Matthieu Ollivier, and Ronald van Heerwaarden. This nexus of knowledge created an environment rich in diverse perspectives, deepening my understanding of complex knee surgery. Being part of the “osteotomy club,” a dynamic group of like-minded surgeons exchanging ideas and case discussions, further enriched my learning and continues to be a valuable resource.
The fellowship also offered insight into surgical innovation, with Prof Adrian Wilson consistently ahead of his time. His dedication to teaching and fostering a culture focused on both professional and personal development left a lasting impression. He is more than a teacher. He is a mentor who opened doors and instilled the confidence in me to establish my own knee preservation unit upon returning to Singapore.
This experience did not just enhance my surgical skills; it gave me the vision and support to pursue excellence in knee preservation. I remain deeply grateful for Prof Adrian Wilson’s mentorship and the incredible opportunities this fellowship provided.
Adrian’s note : This is Mr Hamid Razak. Who was with us a good few years back and now together with Mr Lee Kong Hwee, another former fellow, has gone on to champion osteotomy and joint preservation in Singapore where they both work as consultants. They founded the joint preservation society of Singapore.
