Glenda’s Rapid Recovery Hip Replacement Experience
(0:00) I can walk to your office and bow. (0:04) I can come back. She’s doing a cat walk (0:07) Amazing.
(0:08) When are you 88? (0:10) November. (0:12) And before your hip, which side have we done, which hip? (0:14) Left. (0:15) And before your hip, what was it like at night? (0:18) Uncomfortable.
(0:19) Did you sleep well? (0:20) No. (0:21) Did it keep you awake most of the night? (0:22) No, I would have snatches of sleep.
(0:25) Just before surgery, I was in a very bad state. (0:28) Yeah. (0:29) Because then I wasn’t able to concentrate on reading, or watching television, or doing (0:35) anything other than walking about slowly.
(0:38) Well, I stayed one night in the hospital. (0:40) Yeah. (0:40) And then I stayed two nights in the Xenia Hotel. (0:43) Yeah. (0:43) And I left the crutches there, told them to keep them in their storeroom, because they (0:47) wouldn’t bring them round to the hospital for you, because I was going to give them (0:50) back. (0:51) So then I took the stick on, and then I kept going, and that was it.
(0:56) I don’t call it pain. (0:59) It wasn’t pain, it was uncomfortable. (1:03) And now with six weeks, you’ve walked in without your crutches, how do you feel about (1:06) the hip? (1:06) Not crutches, a stick. (1:08) Sorry, stick, sorry, stick.
(1:09) One of the things it’s done for me, which I haven’t discussed with you, is included (1:14) my posture. (1:15) Okay. (1:16) Right, because an old woman used to creep round my house, and every time I passed a mirror, (1:21) I saw how bent she was. (1:23) Yeah. (1:23) And now she’s straightened up, and I have as well, you see. (1:28) So we’re friends. (1:29) Perfect. (1:30) So you’re glad you had it done? (1:31) Yes, I am glad. (1:33) Thank you.
