Elaine’s Hip Replacement Story
(0:06) Feeling good? (0:08) Yeah, not bad, not bad. (0:09) Lend me your hand so that I can actually give you some safety. I’m not lifting you. (0:14) Wow, it’s fantastic. (0:18) How many hours after both hips? (0:23) I came back about half past one I think. (0:25) Five hours post bilateral hips, how does it feel? (0:31) It’s hurting there, I think it’s kind of, you know I said to you I couldn’t put my legs down when I was in bed? (0:40) Yeah, yeah, yeah. (0:41) I think it’s… (0:42) You’re walking well though. (0:44) Yeah, yeah, yeah. (0:45) That’s quite impressive walking. Obviously in a bit of a hurry to get back to bed. (0:50) No, no, no, no, no, no, no. (0:52) Are you surprised you can walk that well? (0:54) Yes. (0:56) That’s great. (0:58) Yeah. (0:59) You’re doing very good, perfect. (1:02) Okay, some reverse parking. (1:04) Very good.
(1:06) How’s your walking now? (1:07) Walking is fine. (1:09) The hips are great. (1:12) But what’s happened is, is that as you know I had arthritis in both hips. (1:19) And basically over the last two or three years I’ve been walking with a limp. (1:25) But my posture, I’ve been leaning forward. (1:29) And because I’ve been leaning forward, suddenly I’ve got these new hips and I’m standing up straight. (1:36)
And my quads and my hamstrings do not like this. (1:40) Okay, that’s a bit strange. (1:41) Yeah, so that’s where the ache is. (1:44) I’m not in pain at all. (1:47) I ache. (1:48) So the physio that I’m having now is purely to get my quads sort of, you know, stretched. (1:57) And my hamstrings stretched.
(1:59) How long have you been walking as well as that? (2:01) I mean it was amazing. (2:03) I was on crutches for two weeks. (2:07) And then I sort of, I just went from two crutches to no crutches.
(2:12) And I’ve been walking like this for probably two weeks.
(2:17) Can we see you walk? (2:19) Yeah. (2:19) Let’s get you, let’s come, let’s see if we can, because that was quite impressive.
