Surgeon Testimonial from Dr Ejaz Mughul
It was delightful to have visited Cromwell hospital and see some of the more complex work being carried out by esteemed surgeons both local and international.
Having been a consultant for 16 years at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, I am heavily involved in complex knee pathology and it has become increasingly difficult to resource a learning platform where novel ideas or techniques can be seen performed.
Adrian, Ronald and Raghbir were very welcoming and clearly enthused by our presence.
Amongst others I had the opportunity to see rotational deformity correction done at the proximal tibia. This is still an extremely uncommon procedure in the UK. Ronald Van Heervaarden went through two such procedures demonstrating both the indications, limitations and surgical technique. Without this experience it is unlikely one would or should engage in this complex and somewhat risky procedure. This experience has proven tremendously invaluable.
It has completed my portfolio of procedures I can offer for complex lower limb deformity surgery.
There is no doubt that the visitation will more likely benefit the more experienced knee surgeon who are looking to expand their skills and provide some confidence to an area of orthopaedics where much learning is still to be had.
Not only do I recommend the visitation, I’d be happy to attend again if given the opportunity.
