Edna’s ACL Reconstruction Surgery Experience
(0:00) And then it was just building up muscles from then, so that has been five years. So all good (0:06) now, working out every day.
So yeah, I came to Adrian after my ACL tore and it was excruciating.
(0:15) But he got me a surgery just before Christmas, I believe, December 2020. And surgery was really (0:23) quick. I didn’t really feel any nervousness.
His team was great. And then I could walk in three (0:32) days with crutches and then started my physiotherapy for a year.
Do you feel like you’ve (0:42) got full bend? Yeah.
Yeah. Pull that one out straight for me and just leave that one to here. (0:49) And let’s see.
So that’s lovely and stable. And it’s not particularly sore pressing around the (0:55) joint on either side. That’s great. Roll this way for me. There’s no discernible movement in this (1:05) one at all. Yeah, very stable. Much better than this one because I did it. Make the socket.
We’ve (1:11) got this really clever drilling system. So drill goes in and once it’s inside the knee, you can (1:17) flip the tip of this and you can make it starts off at three and a half and you can actually make (1:22) flip cutter or go all the way up to 12. Yeah. And you pull back into the knee to a certain depth, (1:29) normally 20 millimetres, making the socket and then you put it back into the knee and you unflip (1:35) and then you can extract this and you pass the stitch and it can come in and we can feed up and (1:40) feed the ligament up and then fix the internal joints at the end. So that’s what we did. And the (1:45) key is that thing is still there? It’s that tiny piece of metal. If you look at it, you have got (1:51) metal but it’s really very small.
So yeah, if you’ve got metal, you would do that. So it won’t set any alarms.
(1:57) In your case, we didn’t need two buttons, we just screw it at the bottom.
And that’s the technique. (2:02) And there was a period where when I went downstairs, it was a bit painful but then it kind of like (2:09) corrected. And like I’ve been doing a lot of weights, so it’s like the muscles around me.
(2:15) So you’re back now running? Running, full running, tennis, five hours a week. (2:22) Oh wow, that’s great. Do you stretch out for the shots? (2:26) You’re not playing slow doubles tennis with 70-year-olds? No, I play singles.
I do PT as well (2:31) and hyrox and all that stuff. So I work out every day, so there’s like no problems. (2:36) That’s brilliant. I mean, I’m really happy with that. That’s great. Thank you.
So I don’t think (2:41) we need to do anything. It really is very kind of you to pop in and show us how well you run. (2:46) It was good to see you.
It’s really nice to see you too, yeah. (2:48) Show what you have done. So it’s great.
Yeah, it’s great. (2:51) Thank you so much. Take care of yourself, yeah? (2:53) Cheers.
Thank you.
