Diana’s Hip Replacement Journey
(0:05) Okay Diana, you had your hip replaced 17 days ago on the left side and how did you compare (0:15) with the, because you went to the Lynden Hill Rehab Centre, compared to the other hip (0:20) replacement patients, how were you in comparison?
(0:23) I was like superman and they were like the person who were just shuffling around and (0:29) they weren’t making progress. (0:31) I was making progress all the time and they were just treading water. There was quite a big difference? Oh, huge difference (0:38) And I’ve spoken to my friend in Texas because America is all into lots of medical stuff, (0:44) she’d never heard of any of it and she’s absolutely bowled over, she’s telling everybody, everybody (0:49) who will listen.
(0:50) She was a nurse as well in the emergency room. (0:54) And at 17 days, how much pain are you experiencing? (0:58) Hardly anything. (0:59) I mean, we said rapid recovery, does it feel like it’s been a rapid recovery? (1:02) It’s even more than rapid, I mean, you say rapid recovery, you think, oh yeah, well that’s (1:07) probably just, you know, the sales talk, but it’s more than rapid recovery, it’s miraculous (1:13) recovery. (1:15) Yeah. (1:15) That’s what it is. (1:16) Are you happy? (1:17) Very happy. (1:18) I’ve never been happier for four and a half years, it’s marvellous to be out of pain.
(1:23) It’s marvellous to lay in bed without a cushion under this leg, trying to be out of pain just (1:30) for a couple of hours so I can get some sleep. (1:32) I just lay flat in bed, but marvellous, I can’t sleep because I’m so excited that I can (1:38) lay flat in bed.
(1:39) I know it sounds ridiculous.
(1:40) And how far are you guys walking now? (1:42) Oh, what did we do last night? (1:43) We did two miles last night. (1:45) Two miles? (1:45) But slowly. (1:46) Slowly, two miles. (1:48) So the London Marathon next April. (1:50) Yeah, that’s right. (1:51) I booked her in. (1:53) I, of course, am going to wave on the sidelines, encourage her along.
