Chris’ Hip Replacement
“It’s been wonderful. I was up and walking straight away.”
(0:00) Walk towards me and turn around. So we’re at 12 days today, aren’t we? Yes. (0:06) And we’ll go back. And then just show us that manoeuvre, because that’s quite impressive, (0:09) your hip control in terms of your flexion. That’s great, isn’t it? You’d be dancing like (0:14) a ballerina in no time.
It’s been wonderful. I was up and walking straight away. I walked (0:21) from a cab down to my train at the train station and got to the other end. And I’ve been walking (0:27) at home without crutches, basically. And I just use the crutches when I go outside. (0:32) So you’ve not really had to use crutches since the surgery? (0:35) No. It’s settled down very well.
I had swelling where the wound was, but no real pain. (0:42) And I used cold compresses and things on it. And really, it wasn’t much of a problem at all.
(0:51) And pain before the surgery? Oh, that was quite painful. Yeah, (0:56) it was a real problem for a while. I read an article in the Daily Mail, and I’d been waiting (1:04) for months on the NHS, and they still couldn’t tell me when they would do it. But what really (1:09) drew to me was the fact that it wasn’t as invasive as the NHS treatment and that recovery was so much (1:16) quicker. So I’m really glad I saw the article. I only saw the article in January. And here we are (1:24) sort of mid-February, and it’s done.
I can’t believe how small it is and the fact that (1:30) you need to get to the bone and do everything that was done through such a small wound.
(1:36) It’s called a rapid recovery hip. Do you think it sort of ticks the boxes? (1:40) Oh, it’s very rapid, yes. (1:43) And you’ve recommended it to some friends? (1:44) Absolutely. I have already recommended it to friends. (1:47) Fantastic. Thanks so much, Chris.
