TESTIMONIAL

Adrian Johnson

Adrian’s Hip Surgery

(0:06) Now walk just towards me without touching the wall and now try to forget that you’ve (0:12) had a hip surgery. (0:13) Just come. (0:14) How does that feel? (0:16) Yeah. (0:17) Yeah? (0:17) It’s okay? (0:18) How many hours after hip surgery are we now? (0:21) I don’t know. (0:21) Three or four are we. (0:22) Even if? (0:23) It’s rather… (0:24) Yeah, maybe. (0:25) Maybe three. (0:26) Yeah? (0:27) Perfect. (0:27) Okay. (0:28) So, and you walk without crutches? (0:30) Yeah. (0:31) Have you expected that? (0:32) No. (0:32) You seem to be a bit surprised. (0:34) I am. (0:34) Are you happy? (0:35) Yes. (0:36) Okay.

(0:37) So Adrian, you’ve had your right hip replaced. (0:41) That was done three weeks ago, four weeks this Friday, so three and a half weeks ago. (0:46) Tell us about the experience. (0:47) How was it? (0:48) Fantastic. (0:50) It’s just so quick. (0:52) Back on my feet in next to no time.

(0:55) Kristian made me walk around the room three hours afterwards, which was pretty daunting. (1:04) But it was more in my head than anything else, so I managed to do that. (1:10) And yeah, we had a lift home with some relatives in an invalidity vehicle on the Saturday. (1:22) And I was down the pub Saturday night. (1:24) Really? (1:25) Yes. (1:26) He was in the house 20 minutes. (1:28) 20 minutes. (1:29) Is that right? (1:29) I don’t. (1:30) Did you use crutches much? (1:31) Yeah.

(1:32) How long were you using the crutches for? (1:35) It wasn’t a week, was it? (1:36) No, about five days, that’s all. (1:38) We’ve got lots of stairs in our house. (1:40) And you’ve got quite a few. (1:41) What’s your job? (1:42) I’m a farmer. (1:43) And how’s it been with all the calving and the… (1:46) Yeah, so, well, you just get on with it. (1:48) It’s a little bit sore. (1:50) I’m sore in the groin. (1:51) I’m not sore in the area of the operation, which is… (1:56) But you walked in today, no crutches, walking around, jumping out of tractors. (2:01) I haven’t used the crutches for two weeks, have I? (2:05) No.

(2:06) And you said there’s a neighbour of yours, a friend of yours, he’s just had the same thing done. (2:09) He’s had the same thing done the week before me, and he’s still stuttering around on crutches. (2:15) And he’s got a slightly different wound. (2:17) He’s got a real wound, wound 300mm long. (2:21) And how big would you say your wound is? (2:22) We just had a peek at it. (2:23) Well, it’s about 10omm, is it? (2:25) Yeah. (2:25) 120, something like that. (2:27) Yeah, something like that then, yeah. (2:28) Yeah.

(2:29) So, I’m seriously impressed. (2:31) Fantastic. (2:32) Yeah. (2:33) And what about the hospital experience? (2:35) How was it at the Cromwell? (2:36) Yeah, great. (2:37) People and staff have been good. (2:38) Everybody’s been excellent. (2:40) Yeah, really good. (2:41) Seamless. (2:42) Couldn’t fault it. (2:43) Fantastic. (2:43) Thank you.
