I'm Dr. Kristian Kley, a consultant hip and knee surgeon with a passion for advancing orthopaedic care.
During my medical studies, a personal cruciate ligament injury ignited my interest in trauma and orthopaedics.
This pivotal experience led me to Professor Phillipp Lobenhoffer, a renowned expert in ligament surgery and knee osteotomy.
Spending three transformative months in his department during my final year solidified my career direction. Under his mentorship, I honed my skills in knee surgery and osteotomy, eventually becoming a partner in his practice.
With colleagues already focusing on knee procedures, I expanded my expertise into hip surgery. Observing a skilled surgeon at Orthopädische Chirurgie München (OCM) performing the Rottinger Approach to hip replacements inspired me to refine my techniques.
I streamlined surgical methods, optimised and enhanced overall processes, and established myself as a leader in hip surgery known for efficiency and safety with the rapid recovery hip replacement method.
I've performed over 7,000 joint replacements over the last 15 years between Germany and the UK, with 550 hip and 350 knee replacements in the last 12 months.
My dedication to research is reflected in 25 publications on knee osteotomy in PubMed over the past three years. I also deliver over 15 international lectures annually, sharing insights and innovations with the global medical community.
As an active member of the international orthopaedic community, I serve on the developers board for the Joint Preservation Expert Group of the AO Foundation.
